Get VM Fortress

Use this page to download the install package(s) and request a demo license. All information is for Tresys internal use only. See our Privacy Policy.

Prerequisites
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 x86 or x86_64
    • A Red Hat Enterprise Linux system is required to run Tresys VM Fortress.
    • The only non-standard package that is required is "createrepo." This is on the media but it is not installed by default.
    • Additionally, the installation media is required.
      • CDs or DVDs used to install Red Hat itself will suffice.
    • Download these from:
  • VMware Workstation 6.0.4
    • Tresys VM Fortress Desktop supports VMware Workstation and VMware Player.
    • Both Workstation and Player are found in the VMware Workstation package.

Step 1: Request Tresys VM Fortress Desktop.

Fill out the form below to generate a demonstration license file that is good for thirty days and allows you to create a two sandbox system. A demo license file will be sent to the email address you provide. Additionally a link to download VM Fortress will also be provided via email.

Step 2: Install Tresys VM Fortress Desktop.

Extract the VM Fortress Desktop package and install the RPM files using the standard Red Hat tools:

# rpm -q createrepo || yum -y install createrepo
# tar -xf ~/Desktop/vmfortress-1.0.1-1497.tar
# rpm -Uvh vmfortress-1.0.1-1497/*.rpm

Step 3: Install the license file.

Copy the license file you receive via email - the result of a demo request or a purchase - to /etc/vmfortress/licenses:

# cp ~/Desktop/vmfortress-*.license /etc/vmfortress/licenses/
