Tresys Technology Announces the Release of SETools, Version 3.2, for Security Enhanced Linux

Columbia, Maryland–April 30, 2007 Tresys Technology, a leader in network security technology and services and a primary contributor to Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux), has released Version 3.2 of SETools, its popular open source tool suite for SELinux.  SETools is the most extensive set of tools available for analyzing, understanding, and debugging SELinux security policies. The new version of SETools provides improved handling of modular policies, adds the ability to compare MLS properties of different policies, and includes wrappers that enable developers to use the core SETools libraries from java and python.

SELinux security policy is a sophisticated set of system security rules that makes it possible to configure Linux for many differing security solutions.  The SETools suite consists of tools that allow a policy developer or security tester to analyze a SELinux policy for correctness, completeness, and desired security properties. All of the tools in the suite are based on a core central policy analysis library that Tresys has developed based on their extensive experience with writing and analyzing SELinux policies.

SETools is just one of several Tresys-developed open source technologies for SELinux.  For more information on SETools and other SELinux technologies, visit www.tresys.com/selinux.
